Orthodontics in Larkfield, Kent

Straight teeth aren't just about how your smile looks β€” they're easier to clean, less prone to wear, and better for your bite and jaw health. We offer Invisalign clear aligner treatment, without a brace in sight.

The basics

What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the alignment of teeth and jaws. Traditionally, this meant metal braces β€” but modern orthodontics has come a long way. Today, many patients straighten their teeth using clear, removable aligners that are almost invisible when worn and cause minimal disruption to everyday life.

At Larkfield Dental Aesthetics, we provide Invisalign treatment for adults and teenagers. Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners that gradually shift your teeth into their correct positions β€” gently and predictably, over a period of weeks or months depending on your case.

Who it's for

Who is orthodontic treatment for?

It's a common misconception that orthodontic treatment is only for teenagers. Teeth can be straightened at any age, and you don't need severely crooked teeth to benefit β€” even mild crowding, spacing or bite issues can be corrected. Orthodontic treatment may be right for you if:

βœ“ Your teeth are crowded β€” overlapping or sitting too close together
βœ“ You have gaps between teeth that you'd like to close
βœ“ Your bite feels off β€” teeth that don't meet properly when you close your mouth
βœ“ You're self-conscious about the straightness or alignment of your teeth
βœ“ You've had braces before but your teeth have shifted over time
βœ“ You'd like to improve your smile before or alongside other cosmetic treatments

Our treatment of choice

Invisalign

We currently offer Invisalign as our orthodontic treatment of choice. It's suitable for a wide range of alignment issues β€” from mild tooth spacing to more complex bite corrections β€” and is available for both adults and eligible teenagers.

For cases that fall outside the scope of Invisalign, or where fixed braces are the more appropriate clinical choice, we'll advise you honestly and refer you to a trusted specialist orthodontist.

More than a smile

Orthodontics & overall dental health

Straightening your teeth isn't just cosmetic β€” it's an investment in your long-term oral health.

βœ“

Easier to keep clean

Crowded or overlapping teeth are harder to clean effectively, which increases the risk of decay and gum disease.

βœ“

A healthier bite

A corrected bite reduces uneven wear on tooth surfaces and can relieve jaw discomfort caused by misalignment.

βœ“

A long-term investment

Investing in straighter teeth is an investment in your long-term oral health, not just how your smile looks.

Questions

Frequently asked

Am I too old for orthodontic treatment? +

No. Teeth can be moved at any age, provided your gums and supporting bone are healthy. We treat many adult patients with Invisalign, and the results are just as effective as treatment carried out in teenage years.

How do I know if Invisalign is right for me? +

The best way to find out is to book a consultation. We'll assess your teeth and bite, discuss what you'd like to achieve, and let you know whether Invisalign can deliver those results β€” or whether a different approach might serve you better.

Do you offer orthodontics for children? +

For younger children, we focus on monitoring tooth development and referring to a specialist orthodontist when the time is right. For teenagers who are suitable, we offer Invisalign Teen. See our Children's Dentistry section for more on orthodontic referrals for younger patients.

Will orthodontic treatment affect my daily life? +

With Invisalign, the impact on daily life is minimal. The aligners are removable, so you can eat and drink normally and brush your teeth as usual. Most patients adapt within a few days and find the treatment far less intrusive than they expected.
